Shares in Argentinian vineyard on offer
Vines of Mendoza is a company which offers investors the chance to buy areas of Argentinian vineyards and have them managed, with as much or as little personal input as they want.
Founded by US entrepreneur Michael Evans and Argentinian Pablo Gimenez Rilli, Vines of Mendoza is set among 920 acres in the prestigious Uco Valley, and offers a limited number of professionally managed Private Vineyard Estates in three- to ten-acre parcels. Owners produce wine with internationally acclaimed winemaker, Santiago Achával, of Achával-Ferrer fame.
Owners receive their own vineyard planted to their unique specifications and can plant several varietals of grapes sourced from the best nurseries in Argentina and Europe. Currently, almost 65 owners have planted 320 acres to 13 different varietals and a total of 672,000 vines.
Investors can choose from 20 varietals, although more than half the acres have been dedicated to malbec, Argentina’s signature grape, which is used to make lush, dark red wines.
About 80 percent of the members are “hobbyists,” Evans said, while the rest are looking to sell their wine commercially after bottling.
The company is currently developing plans for a distinctive boutique wine and culinary resort and spa that will be set amidst the Private Vineyard Estates. Designed by the prestigious firm Predock Frane (The Inn at The French Laundry and The Family Room at the Getty Center), it will establish a new standard of excellence in Argentina. Private Vineyard Estate owners will enjoy exclusive privileges at this resort.
