Italian fractional company contributes to charity auction
Carrara, a fractional ownership company specializing in luxury vacation homes in Italy is contributing a vacation at its Casi di Sotto property (pictured) in Tuscany to an auction in aid of medical charities supported by the property's owners.
“Creating positive relationships and financial outcomes for our clients is a basic tenet of Carrara,” said company president Deborah Lyon, “and that includes supporting the charitable causes they are passionate about.”
Casi di Sotto is an expansive private villa surrounded by vineyards in the heart of Chianti. The home is currently owned by Dr. Michael and Patti Klein, who are long-time, generous supporters of medical charities related to their involvement in the medical community.
“When we began representing Casi di Sotto for fractional, shared ownership, we wanted to continue to partner with the Kleins in raising funds for worthy charities,” said Lyon.
The “Casi di Sotto Tuscan Dream Vacation” will be one of the featured auction items at Winesong! Grand Tasting & Auction, Sept. 11, 2010. The event, in its 26th year, draws generous wine lovers who travel from 28 states to help support the Mendocino Coast, California, critical access hospital. Proceeds from event will help fund a Diagnostic Imaging Center at the hospital.
This auction package includes a week at Casi di Sotto, plus a hosted luncheon and dinner at two excellent local restaurants. $2,500 toward airfare was added to the package with a generous donation by Bob Wheat of Edward Jones Investments.
Earlier this summer, the Sam Butler Callahan Foundation raised a significant percentage of their event total with a similar auction package donated by the Kleins and Carrara.
The Sam Butler Callahan Foundation, was started by Sam Callahan, 14, of Campbell, California and his aunt, Jeanne Butler, after he was diagnosed one year ago with Ewing Sarcoma. The foundation’s goals include creating a “living, social community” for those impacted by children’s cancers and supporting research about the cause and innovative treatment of Ewing Sarcoma, a form of bone cancer that typically strikes young people between the ages of 10 and 20. The foundation also gives to families in need of financial assistance through an application process. They are reimbursed for medical, travel and other expenses not covered by insurance.
“It is an honour to partner with generous people such as the Kleins and to join them in supporting charitable work that has such an impact on people’s lives in challenging times,” said Lyon. “We hope the bidding will be lively at Winesong! so that the maximum amount is raised for the hospital. And we are confident that the winning bidders will enjoy every minute of their stay in Casi di Sotto.”
